ShadiSunnah exists to make something meaningful possible the beginning of a journey towards a blessed marriage, approached by families with honesty, respect, and faith. The people on this Platform are not usernames or profile numbers. They are real families, with real hopes, doing something that takes courage and vulnerability.
These Community Guidelines are written in that spirit. They are not a list of rules imposed from above. They are a shared understanding of how every family on ShadiSunnah has agreed to treat every other family. They exist so that everyone, regardless of their background, country, or circumstances, can use this Platform with confidence that the people they encounter have agreed to behave with integrity.
These Guidelines supplement our Terms and Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy. Together, they form the complete framework of standards that every family accepts at the point of registration.
Most online platforms are built for speed and volume. ShadiSunnah is built for something different. The matrimonial process, particularly the Islamic and family led approach to marriage that is central to Pakistani and Muslim culture, requires patience, sincerity, and careful consideration. It is not a process that benefits from the casual, transactional norms of most online interaction.
We ask everyone on this Platform to hold that in mind. Every message you send, every connection request you make, and every decision you take represents your family. More importantly, every profile you view represents someone's son or daughter, someone's hopes for the future, and someone's family's trust.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said that every Muslim's life, wealth, and honour is sacred. That principle applies with particular force on a platform where families are sharing some of the most personal aspects of their lives in search of something as significant as a marriage.
The most fundamental thing we ask of every family on ShadiSunnah is honesty. This Platform works only if every family can trust that what they are reading on a profile is true.
Be truthful about your family member. Their age, their education, their profession, their character, their past. It is natural to want to present your family in the best possible light, but there is a clear difference between presenting someone honestly and positively and misrepresenting who they are. The latter does not lead anywhere good. A marriage built on a false impression is not a foundation. It is a liability. Under the Pakistan Penal Code, deliberate deception with intent to induce another person into a transaction, including a matrimonial agreement, can constitute fraud under Sections 420 and 468.
Be truthful about your intentions. If you send a connection request, do so because you have genuinely reviewed the profile and believe there may be a suitable match. Do not send requests speculatively or in large numbers hoping something will come of it. Every family that receives a request from you is spending time and emotional energy considering it. That deserves to be taken seriously.
Be honest in your communications. If, after connecting with a family, you decide they are not the right match, say so clearly and kindly. Do not leave families waiting indefinitely. A respectful and direct message saying the match is not right is far kinder than silence, and it reflects the good character that Islamic matrimonial practice expects of everyone involved.
ShadiSunnah serves families from Pakistan, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and beyond. Our users represent a wide range of ethnicities, regional backgrounds, languages, sects, and traditions within the broader Muslim community. Pakistan itself is home to enormous regional and cultural diversity, from Punjab and Sindh to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, and our platform reflects that.
We ask every family to approach this diversity with open mindedness and respect. Preferences are a natural part of the matrimonial process and you are entitled to have them. But there is a significant difference between having a preference and expressing prejudice or contempt for those outside that preference.
Making disparaging comments about someone's ethnicity, regional background, language, caste, biraderi, or sectarian tradition, whether on your profile, in messages, or anywhere else, is not acceptable on this Platform. The Quran is clear that no people or tribe is inherently superior to another. The most honoured in the sight of Allah is the most righteous.
The matrimonial process touches on some of the most personal aspects of a person's life, including their religious practice, their family circumstances, and their hopes for their future. The information families share on their profiles is shared in trust and for a specific purpose.
Treat that information with the sensitivity it deserves. Do not discuss profiles you have viewed with people who have no involvement in the process. Do not share details of other families' circumstances with your extended family network, community groups, or on social media. Do not use information shared during the matrimonial process for any other purpose.
Please be aware that sharing personal information about another person, including their photographs or family details, without their consent is a violation of the Personal Data Protection Act 2025 of Pakistan and may also constitute an offence under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 if done through electronic means. We take this seriously and will report violations to the relevant authorities.
In Pakistani and Muslim culture, the concept of honour, izzat, is deeply meaningful. Sharing a young woman's photograph or personal details without her family's consent is not a minor breach of etiquette. It is a serious harm that can have real consequences for real people and their families.
Anyone found to have shared another family's photographs, profile details, or personal information outside of the matrimonial process for which it was shared will have their account permanently closed. We will report the matter to the FIA Cybercrime Wing under PECA 2016 and cooperate fully with any investigation.
Not every connection leads to a match. In fact most do not, and that is completely normal and expected. When a family declines a connection request, or when both families reach the conclusion that a match is not right, this should be accepted graciously.
We understand that a decline, even in this context, can be disappointing. But the way a family handles that moment says a great deal about their character. On ShadiSunnah, the expected standard is simple. Acknowledge the decision respectfully and move on. Continued pursuit of a family that has expressed disinterest is not acceptable and may constitute harassment under Section 20 of PECA 2016.
Before sending a connection request, please take the time to genuinely review the profile. Consider whether the fundamental criteria, including religious values, lifestyle expectations, family situation, and location, are compatible. A connection request should represent genuine interest, not a speculative enquiry sent to dozens of families simultaneously.
Once a connection is accepted, both families have expressed mutual interest in exploring whether there is a suitable match. At this point the conversation can begin. We suggest starting with an exchange that covers the key considerations for both families, including religious practice and expectations, family background, the nature of the match being sought, and the expected timeline.
Keep communications through the Platform's system initially. There is no need to rush to exchange personal phone numbers. Taking the time to communicate through ShadiSunnah allows both families to maintain appropriate boundaries while they assess compatibility. This is also consistent with Islamic guidance on the matrimonial process, which encourages proper family involvement and measured progression.
There is no ShadiSunnah rule about when families should move from the Platform to direct communication by phone or in person. That is entirely your decision as families. What we do ask is that any request to move communication off the Platform comes after sufficient trust has been established and that both families are genuinely comfortable with the transition.
In Pakistan, where community reputation and family honour carry significant weight, we encourage families to involve their broader family networks at an appropriate stage of the process and to seek verification of the other family through their own community contacts where possible.
ShadiSunnah is a platform guided by Islamic values, and those values are reflected in everything about how it operates. Every interaction on the Platform should reflect the modesty, seriousness, and propriety that the matrimonial process deserves.
Profile photographs should be appropriate and modest. They should show the Profile Subject clearly and naturally, not in a posed, immodest, or inappropriate manner.
Profile descriptions should be written with dignity. They should present your family member honestly and positively, focusing on character, values, and what they are looking for in a life partner.
Communications between connected families should be respectful and purposeful. This is not a casual messaging service. The communication here serves a specific and serious purpose, and the tone of every message should reflect that.
One of the most important things any community can do is look out for its members. On ShadiSunnah, that means being alert to the possibility of fraud and reporting it when you see it.
Pakistan unfortunately has a significant problem with matrimonial fraud, both online and through traditional channels. Fraudsters specifically target families that are trusting, sincere, and emotionally invested in finding a good match. The better informed our community is about the warning signs, the safer everyone on the Platform becomes.
If you come across a profile that seems suspicious, including photographs that look like they have been taken from elsewhere, information that seems inconsistent, or behaviour from a connected family that feels wrong, please report it immediately. Your report could protect another family from serious harm.
Reporting a profile does not accuse that family of wrongdoing with certainty. It asks us to look more closely. We take every report seriously and investigate carefully before taking any action. Your report will remain completely confidential.
If you believe you have been the target of fraud or financial exploitation through a connection on this Platform, please report it to us immediately and contact the FIA Cybercrime Wing at complaint.fia.gov.pk. If you are in the UK, contact Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk. Do not be embarrassed to report it. These fraudsters are sophisticated and deliberately target good, trusting people.
In return for the standards we ask of you, ShadiSunnah makes the following commitments.
We will verify the identity of every account before any profile goes live on the Platform.
We will investigate every report thoroughly and take appropriate and proportionate action.
We will protect your personal information, handle it in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2025 of Pakistan, and never sell it to anyone under any circumstances.
We will maintain the Platform with care and address technical issues promptly.
We will treat every family that contacts our support team with courtesy and respect, regardless of the nature of their enquiry.
We will make decisions fairly and consistently, without favouritism, prejudice, or partiality.
We will cooperate with Pakistani law enforcement authorities, including the FIA Cybercrime Wing, wherever criminal activity is reported or suspected on the Platform.
We are building something that we hope will make a genuine difference in the lives of Muslim families, not just in Pakistan and the UK, but wherever Muslim families search for matches in a way that honours their faith, their values, and the Islamic understanding of what marriage is meant to be.
That is only possible if every family on the Platform upholds these standards. We are grateful that you are part of this community and we take our responsibility to it seriously.
